Using Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), the gold standard of couples therapy, I help couples improve their communication & develop a secure, lasting bond.

EFT is a structured, 3-phase approach that helps over 75% of couples make a fully recovery from distress, and 90% of couples show relationship improvements at the end of therapy.

The person you love most shouldn't be the hardest to reach.

COUPLES THERAPY

You really want to make your relationship work...

That matters more than you might think. Most couples who make it to my office aren't here because they've given up. They're here because they haven't, and they want a real shot at something different before the distance becomes permanent.

You don't need a specific incident to point to. You don't need an affair or a crisis (though you can bring that to me, too.) You just need to be stuck and willing to do something about it.

Most couples come in thinking the problem is communication. If we could just learn to talk to each other better, things would improve. And there's some truth to that!

But communication is just the tip of the iceberg. Underneath the arguing, the distance, the same fight you keep having on rotation, there's an emotional dynamic that isn't getting talked about.

For one of you, it might feel like this:

I keep trying to reach you. I tell you what I need, what I'm missing, how I'm feeling, and it just doesn't seem to make a difference. I'm carrying more and more of this on my own and I'm tired, burnt out and worried about us. I need something to change NOW.

For the other, it might feel more like this:

No matter what I do, I can't get it right with you. When you come at me, I shut down. Not because I don't care, but because I don't know what else to do. I'm trying. I just don't know how to show you in a way you can feel.

Both of you are hurting. Both of you are trying. And you keep missing each other anyway.

What's really happening between you...

Get STarted

Emotionally Focused Therapy doesn't work on your communication skills. It works on the cycle underneath, the pattern of reaching and withdrawing that you've both gotten locked into, and changes it at the level where it actually lives.

That means the work happens in session, in real time, when you're actually feeling it. Not at home on a Tuesday night with a worksheet. Not on a date night when you're both still carrying whatever happened last week. In the room, together, when things are real and alive and something new can actually happen.

Over time you'll start to recognize the pattern as it's happening, slow it down, and find each other in it instead of losing each other to it.

This is what EFT is designed for...

Get STarted

Maybe something happened that broke trust in a way that's hard to come back from, an affair, a lie that unraveled, a decision made without the other. Or maybe nothing "happened" in that sense, but a major life transition, a new baby, a job loss, an illness, a move, cracked something open between you that hasn't closed back up. Either way, you're not just arguing about the event anymore.

You're circling something underneath it: can I trust you again, do you still choose me, are we going to make it through this. Those are the real questions, even when the conversations on the surface are about something else entirely. This work isn't about deciding whether what happened was okay. It's about understanding what it did to each of you, and finding out, together, whether the relationship can become a place where something like this is less likely to happen again, and more likely to be repaired quickly if it does.
